The continuing trend for metallics continues this season with a palette of silver and pewter which are used to create this ultra-modern living room setting. Whilst once the domain of oil-based paints, these luxurious-looking metallics are now available in a good selection of high quality water-based finishes.

Create a stunning feature-wall by using brilliant white as the base colour and then applying a circular design of small red dots used to create large circles on the wall. Eye-catching, even hypnotic, this simple combination of red and white is achieved by stencilling small dots on a hand-drawn circle
Soft creams, stone and duck egg blue are a winning colour combination and are used here to create a Nordic-style setting. A dado rail divides the colours and above the dado a hand-painted design of leaves and simple branches adorns the wall. Painted floorboards are decorated here in a similar hand-painted design in blue against ivory.

Inspired by the luxury of the haute couture salons of the 1950s, Salon Chic uses a stylish range of greys on both walls and woodwork. Pale grey is used for walls, while a darker shade is used in a low sheen eggshell finish for the doors. A light cream is used to highlight door panels and the decorative architrave.
