Bedroom Painting Ideas

1. Talk with the person who shares your room before making any major decisions to change the paint in your bedroom. You may find that he does not care what colors you choose or he may be adamantly against certain colors. Ask him if he would like the room to be peaceful and relaxing or upbeat and inspiring. Of course, if you do not share your room then go ahead with whatever you choose.

2. Decide on the feel of the bedroom. The type of decor you have can help you narrow down what color of paint to use.

3. Choose the color or colors to go with your bedroom painting ideas. A room does not have to be one color but can instead be two or even more colors if done in an aesthetically pleasing way. If you are choosing more than one paint color be sure to use colors that compliment each other.

4.
Paint one wall a separate color from the other walls. Use this to enhance the room and to draw the eye to a special area of the bedroom. You may want to paint the wall behind the bed a different color, especially if you do not have a headboard. You may also paint a smaller wall, such as a wall between a closet and a bathroom.

5. Use color blocking to give a room a decorating lift without having to purchase expensive wall décor. Color blocking is done with a ruler and painter's tape and as many shapes as you can come up with. Use the painter's tape to outline the shapes of squares, circles, triangles or any other shape. Paint these shapes a complimentary color to the main paint color of the walls.

6. Give the ceiling a couple coats of paint as well. People often forget about the ceiling as a surface to paint but it can help the overall décor of the room. Use the same color as the walls or a complimentary color to paint the ceiling. You can also color block a large square on the ceiling and paint it a different color to give the impression of a tray ceiling or use paint to create other ceiling styles much more cheaply than remodeling.

7. Keep going once you have painted the walls and realize that bedroom painting ideas can extend from the walls to the furniture. Instead of throwing out the scuffed dresser or replacing your chipped side tables, give them a fresh coat of paint. You may even find that just painting the trim in your room gives you the change you need.
